First published on the pushpanel.io blog as “How APC APCRBC124 UPS Battery Cartridge for APC - BR1200GI, BR1500GI looks inside?” and archived here. The original domain is no longer ours, so links to it were removed and the headline rewritten for this site; the text of the post is unchanged.

Battery Cartridge is covered with a sticky plastic plate glued on both sides.

The sealed cartridge: a red APC sticker plate wrapped over two cells, pull tabs standing up at the topThe other face of the red plate — Genuine RBC, 9Ah/12V, two batteries, 24V total, with the recycling and caution symbols

Stickers are strong enough to keep the battery cartridge intact. One Green and one Red showing a direction of a connecting plug.

Both sticker plates peeled off and laid flat, one red and one green, with the bare cells standing behind themThe two black cells side by side, adhesive residue where the plates were

After taking out stickers:

The pair seen end-on, the connector holder slotted between them and the red and black leads visibleThe connector holder lifted clear, its red and black leads crossing the moulding marked 876-0029A

We can see a holder that can be disconnected and two 12V batteries:

The battery used here was: LONG WP9-12SHR 12V 9Ah
Rechargeable Sealed Lead-Acid Battery
DC power, Constant voltage charge

Cell label: LONG WP9-12SHR 12V 9Ah rechargeable sealed lead-acid, with the caution list and charging voltagesClose-up of the same label — cycle use 14.4-15.0V, standby 13.5-13.8V, initial current 2.7A max

Holder looks like his:

Assume it is simple to replace batteries with new ones that would fit specifications of APC battery. Possibly it is also a way to restore old batteries?
