Privacy Policy for Schema Resume (Auto CV Tailor) Chrome Extension

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how the Schema Resume (Auto CV Tailor) Chrome Extension ("Extension", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and shares information when you use our Extension.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Job Posting Data

When you click the Extension icon on supported job board pages, we extract publicly available job posting information including:

  • Job title, company name, location
  • Job description and requirements
  • Salary information (if publicly displayed)
  • Employment type and workplace type

This data is processed locally in your browser and saved to your Downloads folder as JSON files.

2.2 User-Provided Data

If you configure the CV tailoring feature, you may provide:

  • Your resume/CV in JSON format
  • Tailoring rules and preferences in JSON format

This data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API and is never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly use the CV tailoring feature.

2.3 Data Sent to Third-Party Services

When you use the CV tailoring feature (optional), the Extension sends the following to our AI tailoring service at https://cv-editor.tradik.dev:

  • Your stored resume JSON
  • The scraped job posting JSON
  • Your tailoring rules JSON

3. How We Use Your Information

3.1 Local Processing

  • Job posting data is extracted and saved locally to your device
  • Your resume and rules are stored locally in your browser

3.2 CV Tailoring Service (Optional)

When you use the tailoring feature:

  • Your resume, job posting and rules are sent to our AI service
  • The service processes this data to generate a tailored resume
  • The tailored resume is returned and opened in a new browser tab
  • We do not permanently store your resume or personal information on our servers

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

4.1 Third-Party Services

  • cv-editor.tradik.dev: our AI tailoring service, which processes resume and job data only when you explicitly use the tailoring feature
  • We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with any other third parties

4.2 Job Board Websites

The Extension accesses the following job board domains to extract publicly available job posting information:

  • linkedin.com
  • indeed.com
  • greenhouse.io
  • ashbyhq.com
  • postingpanda.uk
  • myworkdayjobs.com

5. Data Storage and Retention

5.1 Local Storage

  • Resume and rules are stored in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local)
  • Job posting JSON files are saved to your Downloads folder
  • You can delete this data at any time through the Extension settings or by clearing browser data

5.2 Server-Side Retention

  • Our AI tailoring service does not permanently store your resume or job data
  • Data is processed in memory and discarded after generating the tailored resume

6. Permissions Explanation

The Extension requires the following Chrome permissions:

  • activeTab: to read job posting content from the current tab
  • scripting: to extract job data from web pages
  • downloads: to save JSON files to your Downloads folder
  • tabs: to detect when you are on a supported job board
  • webNavigation: to detect iframe content on job boards
  • storage: to store your resume and tailoring rules locally
  • host_permissions: to access the specific job board domains listed in section 4.2

7. Data Security

  • All data processing happens locally in your browser when possible
  • Communications with cv-editor.tradik.dev use HTTPS encryption
  • We do not collect analytics, tracking data or usage statistics
  • We do not use cookies or tracking technologies

8. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Delete your stored resume and rules through the Extension options page
  • Disable the CV tailoring feature and use only local scraping
  • Uninstall the Extension at any time
  • Request information about data sent to our tailoring service

9. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
